What we do..

Picture
Since 2004 the directors of Healthcare and Hospital Process Improvement have been engaged in system redesign using Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement approaches, coaching and training. Leveraging the expertise and insights of frontline staff in a respectful way is the foundation of their approach.

From 2011 they have been successfully applying these methods to hospitals and associated services, including: pathology laboratories; emergency departments (directly focusing on NEAT/ETP as an access to care initiative, and with rapid improvements substantiated by NSW Bureau of Health Information quarterly reports and LHD KPI measures); inter-departmental flow including in-patient wards, MAU, emergency and pathology departments and NEST (including value stream mapping of the Recommendation for Admission process).

Adjunct Assoc. Professor Dr. Kate Hayes PhD, MBA, BSc(Psych)(Hons)
My engagement in the analysis and application of Lean Systems Thinking and other innovations in health services delivery is the culmination of over 30 years of study and work. Extensive engagement with industry, complemented by academic studies in psychology, business administration and innovation provide me with a distinctive skill set. My passion is using this skill set to address questions about propensities to innovate, the innovation process and the diffusion of management and technological innovations, particularly quality improvement techniques, in health services organisations.

Nick Reed BE & Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
Since 2011 I have undertaken Continuous Improvement projects within the NSW Health System. These have comprised projects at a number of hospitals as well as preparing and delivering bespoke Lean Six Sigma Green belt training for the  Agency for Clinical Innovation. For more than ten years I fulfilled the role of a Principal Engineer within Continuous Improvement (Six-Sigma-Lean Black Belt) at a medical device design and manufacturing organisation. This role involved partnering with internal departments and suppliers, to assist them undergo the cultural changes needed to move to a continuous-improvement culture and to lead them in their projects. This was achieved by application of Continuous Improvement methodologies using a team based approach.
